The skill set includes ability to work in a fast paced environment, talking to others to convey information effectively, adjusting actions in relation to others' actions. He/she must give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. He must actively look for ways to help people.


A relationship manager's typical profile includes seeking approvals on a day to day basis, ratifications and monitoring of credit approvals, identifying customer needs and assessing their risk appetite. He/she must help a customer decide what product or service would be suitable for their needs. He/she must keep abreast of current market conditions, fund and company policies, and all procedural information in order to effectively handle general questions and complaints.

He/she must achieve targets based on client acquisition and revenue generation and provide regular updates to the reporting authority as and when required.

Educational Qualifications

An MBA or post graduate in finance or marketing is the criterion for most employers. Such a person is required to be certified by National Institute of Securities Market (NISM).
